As the name implies, Deck Giant builds custom decks — it's one of our core specialties, built to last many seasons in the extremes of the Colorado climate. We thrive in difficult terrain, steep slopes, and complicated projects — no job is too complex.

Trex & TimberTech
Pros: Extremely low maintenance — no staining or sealing, ever. Resists warping, rotting, fading, and insect damage. Can be built with hidden fasteners, so no screws are visible on the surface.
Cons: Higher upfront cost than wood. Can get hot underfoot in direct sun. If a board is damaged, it typically needs to be replaced rather than sanded out.

Western Red Cedar
Pros: Naturally resists insects, moisture, and rot. Rustic look, natural or stained — left unstained, it fades to a silvery grey a lot of homeowners like.
Cons: Costs more than pressure-treated pine, and it's a softer wood — prone to scratches from foot traffic, furniture, or pets. Can be sanded and refinished to remove blemishes.

Pressure-Treated Pine
Pros: Won't rot and can last for decades, even with direct ground contact. The least expensive lumber option, and easy to paint or stain to match any color.
Cons: Boards tend to warp and bend somewhat as they dry out. Usually minimal and not a structural issue — more aesthetic. Larger lumber sizes and tighter fastening help minimize it.

Garapa, Ipe & More
Pros: Naturally resistant to rot, insects, and moisture, with a rich, premium grain. Dense enough to hold up exceptionally well to hail, freeze-thaw cycles, pets, kids, and heavy foot traffic.
Cons: The highest material cost. Heavier and denser, which can add to installation time, and needs occasional oiling to keep its color.
Steep, Rocky & Difficult Terrain
This is where Deck Giant does its best work. Some of our largest builds sit on steep, rocky lots in Evergreen, Conifer, Morrison, and other mountain communities — terrain a standard deck build wouldn't hold. We engineer tall support posts, custom footings, and framing designed to work with the grade instead of fighting it.
On a recent project near Morrison, we built a large second-floor-attached deck straight into a granite hillside — very little soil, mostly solid rock. That meant custom footers embedded directly into the granite with specialized structural attachments in place of standard concrete footings, engineered to carry the deck's full load off the rock itself.
We regularly take on jobs that other contractors would rather pass up — steep grades, rock instead of soil, tricky access, and layouts that take real engineering to get right. Regardless of the difficulty, we can take on and complete just about any deck job.
